High School Preparation Program
GEOS Victoria offers a High School Preparation Program (HSPP) for those students wishing to study English before entering a high school in Victoria. This "Bridge Program" helps prepare students for the academic as well as the cultural challenges of Canadian high school life. During the morning and afternoon the students will take Full-time ESL classes; following these, they will study standard high school subjects such as geography, history, social studies, sciences and mathematics in English. These late afternoon "Elective" classes will help familiarize students with the basic English vocabulary necessary for the comprehension of the most standard high school subjects.

Integrated Skills Class
During this class, students study four English skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening - through a “Communicative Language Teaching” methodology. New grammar patterns are learned in the context of a conversation or a real-life situation. Students also use various activities to practice English conversation including listening tasks, role plays, and discussions. Practical reading and writing tasks and vocabulary studies are presented as well in our 6 available levels.
Active Listening Class
During this class, students will cover a variety of topics while practicing English conversation management, conversational styles, and pronunciation. Students learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way. Teachers also use various activities to practice these new idioms including listening tasks, role play, and discussion.
GEOS Languages PLUS English Courses Features:
A GEOS English class features a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on oral communication - speaking and listening. Well trained and highly qualified instructors help students improve their conversation skills through a variety of creative activities. There are six different levels of study, from beginner through proficient.
A placement test helps us find the best class level for each student. At the end of each four-week session, each student will receive a written evaluation and have a one-on-one with one of their teachers. This is how we help you monitor your progress. After each three month semester, students receive a report card, and students receive a GEOS certificate when they finish their course.
