The GEOS staff and teachers are very helpful. I came here because I want to get a high score in IELTS test, and they helped me do it. Getting '7' in IELTS is me best memory ever!

Myriam Sylla (GEOS Montreal); Paris, France

Myriam Sylla (GEOS Montreal); Paris, France

Hi everyone,
My name is Myriam and I’m from Paris, in France (for sure)

Well it’s quite hard to put into words an experience you cannot put into words. I guess the first question which will come up in your head is why a French girl chose Montreal to improve her English and not a "pure English city"! Here we are! I cannot deny that the main reason was due to my fear of being lost in a country where I couldn't even order something to eat. Besides, coming to Montreal was a real choice that I don’t regret at all! I was pretty positive, but I couldn't imagine that it’ll be that amazing. I felt in love with the kindness of Montreal inhabitants, the dynamic of the city and it stands to reason that the multiculturalism is impressive. I mean there is no way to get bored, either during the summer or in the winter, there are lots of activities that you have the opportunity to do.

Now you arrive alone, your fears of being lost and getting bored are at their peak, you chose the right school to avoid all these things. Actually Geos is not only a Language Academy, it’s more than that. This school will help you from your arrival to your departure to make this unique experience unforgettable. I should be able to share what it brings into my life, but I'm unable to count all the new friends I have from all over the world, I'm unable to name all the places I've discovered and how many activities I've done. Take it from me, it has also helped me building my personality and it goes without saying that my English improved spectacularly. So I can merely recommend that you come to live this unique experience.

I told you at the beginning that I was scared about being lost in an English city and after 3 months at Geos, it has become as a walk in a park. I didn't say that it'd be easy but I just promise that it would be worth it. Challenges are what make life interesting but overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. Don't take my word for granted, just replace your fear of the unknown with curiosity.

More than thank Geos I would like to congratulate them for sharing with me the best thing that ever happened to me. It now your turn to come and leave your testimonial… =D
If you get a chance, TAKE IT!

Mohammed (GEOS Victoria); Saudi Arabia

What I like the most at GEOS is the friendly teachers and their teaching styles. They give us a lot of speaking and listening activities. Teachers give us several conversation topics, so I had to study not only new vocabularies but also the knowledge of the topics. Thanks to them I improve my skills day by day. Now I am taking a full time IELTS course because I need it to go to a university in Canada. IELTS is challenging for me. However, because I had taken the regular ESL class and studied basic English for a while, the basic English skills helps me how to succeed in IELTS. I am happy to meet friends of all different nationalities. Especially two Japanese friends, who were very kind to me. I appreciate it. I also want to say thank you to the manager of GEOS. He is always friendly and helpful.

Aloha! I have been here in GEOS since 2010. When I came here I couldn’t speak any English, but now it’s different. I had a good time at this school and unforgettable moments. I enjoyed my free time with my classmates when I could. I’m glad to be here that long because that was a good experience for me and my English skills. When I have finished here I’ll still be around Ottawa. Thanks to the GEOS staff for being my friends and part time family :)

Peace!!!

Hi!
My name is Raissa. I am from Brazil. I will stay here until December. GEOS is an excellent school to learn and improve English. GEOS teachers are professional and very funny and there are a lot of friendly friends.

Toronto has big diversity. That's why I like this city. We can meet people who have different cultures. There are a lot of events which are very interesting. There are some famous palces in Toronto. For example, CN Tower, Toronto Island, Wonderland which has a lot of roller coasters, etc. We can also go to New York and Niagara falls. They are not far from here. Toronto and GEOS are fantastic.

I love them!

Hassan Fikri (GEOS Calgary); Saudi Arabia

Hassan Fikri (GEOS Calgary); Saudi Arabia

My Name is Hassan Fikri

I studied in GEOS Brighton nine years ago, so I knew that GEOS could help to achieve my goals. My purpose for studying English is to achieve a high score on the TOEFL test in order to get acceptance in the U of C for MBA program.

When I studied in Calgary, my first impressions about the City was so cold for me but I enjoyed the weather afterwards. GEOS Calgary is small compared with GEOS Brighton but has almost the same study contents. My classmates are outstanding and my English level is not as good as I thought.

Now, my feeling about my English is improving so far especially my pronunciation. For this reason if you are looking for a good ESL school in Calgary, GEOS would be one of the best.

Kemmy Ritter (GEOS Orange County); Brazil

Kemmy Ritter (GEOS Orange County); Brazil

When I think about GEOS, I remember one of the best times of my life. Choosing the most special moment at GEOS is difficult. Classes were nice, sightseeing was wonderful, and I learned a lot about the many cultures around the world from the friends I made. I learned a lot about writing, and now practicing new vocabulary is my passion. My classes ended three months ago, but I still come to GEOS to hang out because it's a good environment and it brings back good memories. I miss GEOS a lot!

At GEOS I will miss many things like teacher, classmate, like group for to go outside activities. My word for GEOS is "amazing."

My name is Lisset from Tabasco, Mexico. Living in Montreal for the past 3 months has been the best experience in my life. New experiences, friends and dreams are born in me with this opportunity that my parents and God gave me.

I will be studying at Geos until January and I can just tell you that the program, style, structure, the teachers and the staff at Geos are perfect. Every detail in Geos is so well maintained my skills of writing, analysing, listening and speaking have improved a lot. Now I feel more confident speaking this second language.

Megumi Onose (GEOS Calgary); Japan

Megumi Onose (GEOS Calgary); Japan

This is a great opportunity to be a teaching assistant of level 1 and 2 in GEOS. I have attended the classes for 2 months. When I could help students well like grammatical corrections or finding new ideas, it gave me confidence. However, I realised that English is profound rather than I was thinking. There are varieties of expression for individual people. I felt it difficult to fix students' own language well without changes.

On the other hand, I enjoyed spending time with teachers and students most of the time. As a teaching assistant, I learned many things from them about English, communicative skills and consideration. I appreciate teachers that they encourage me to try many things. They gave me adequate advises and many chances of teaching jobs.

The reason for choosing TESOL in GEOS, becoming a teaching assistant is provided after the course. It's a great occasion to build my teaching experience. If I don't be a teacher, these experiences will success in my life.

Talita Monteiro de Araujo (GEOS Ottawa); Brazil

Hi, I'm Talita from Brazil. I really enjoy Ottawa. Everyone is very friendly here, everyone likes to help you. Ottawa has a lot of things to do and lot of beautiful places. All the public systems are safe and organized, for example the bus system. I feel safe here.

And GEOS – amazing! In 1 month I think I learned more English than my whole life. I also like my Homestay. My parents are fantastic people. A funny culture difference is in Brazil sometimes I take a shower 4 times a day. In Canada people take only 1.

Thanks.

I think I have known that through GEOS. GEOS is a small school but it has teachers who are kind and helpful a lot. Many countries' students are coming at GEOS. Kazuko (GEOS Victoria); Japan

It has already been 4 weeks since I came here. I cannot believe how fast it has passed. The first week it was hard to get used to this school life because everything was new and I got a lot of homework and tests. I always asked my host mother for help when I didn't understand something at school or my homework. She is very kind and always willing to help me. I appreciate it. It was great time to spend with them and to get to know Canadian life. Here you can study with many people from different countries. This precious moment that I studied with students my grand children's ages gave me some new ideas for my life. I believe this experience makes my life more meaningful.

I appreciate the Japanese staff. I was only allowed to speak Japanese in the office which made me relax and get rid of the pressure from using only English. I know it is no meaning of using own language because we came to study English here; however, I needed to refresh my mind. Thanks to the staff I refreshed and was able to study with a clear mind. In the class, I was confused how to catch the teacher's instructions at first. However, I learned a lot though it was a very short time study. I still don't understand some so I will review little by little when I go back to Japan and I would like to use what I learned as much as I can. I have no idea what to express, it was such a wonderful experience and I really appreciate the teachers, classmates and the staff. Thank you so much.

Carlos Munoz Del Real (GEOS New York); Spain

I have the opportunity again for coming back to GEOS, and I'm so glad for to do it. I know how are the classes, teachers, and the most important, give me the possibility of making new friends and know another cultures. In the academy aspect, I think that my English was improved, I feel that now I can understand more clearly the language and my fluency of speak was improve too.

Paolo Paparcuri (GEOS Calgary); Italy

I have attended in my lifetime, two English courses at institutes well known in Venezuela and reach the final in both. But as only attended one or two hours a day, and the rest of the day I had no opportunity to practice English so all time I speak Spanish with everyone. With every passing day I was forgetting what I had learned, including I never could to understand a movie in English or with subtitles. I listened to it in English but I have to read it in Spanish. The result was that I could never have a conversation as I've always wanted and I think I've missed more than half the information available. As you know through the internet, as almost all the interesting information is in English.

Because of my work, I have not a lot of free time, but I decided, despite my being 65 years old, I am trying to make something that many times in my life I've wanted to do and that is a course in a location where I had not many chance to speak Spanish but only English.

I researched and chose GEOS CALGARY. Unfortunately I could only take a month, but I think this month I've learned enough to understand a movie in English and I think from now on I will only watch movies and read books in English because I don't want happen the same as in the previous experiences.

I chose Calgary because I consider this city is located far enough from Hispanics. Also, the staff of GEOS CALGARY is a group of people turned out very proactive, nice and friendly, with highly attentive and willing to help me achieve the goal that brought me here, and also the system they offer, Canadian Homestay is very economical as well as very nice and helps keep practicing the language after class. I recommend, to stay away completely from friends and people who speaks your language because that really is not going to help you.

Jan (GEOS Toronto); Czech Republic

Hello

My name is Jan. I'm from Czech Republic. I wanted to improve my English skills and Knew how people live in this country while I was living in my country. That's why I came to Toronto. I like GEOS because I can make new friends who had lived in many different countries before I met them. I can meet good teachers at GEOS as well. Now, I think my English skills are better than before. If I graduate this school, I will get a job. If I don't get a job, I might extend this school. Haha

By the way, this school is good for my English education and will be also my good experience.

Thank you.

Sae Oikawa (GEOS LA-South Bay); Japan

I'm Sae Oikawa. I'm from Shizuoka, part of Japan. I saw many gorgeous buildings. It makes me happy! I enjoy watching DVDs about American drama after school. And I want to study hospitality. There are many great hotels. It's interesting. So I want to visit Las Vegas again and again. I hope to go to the college in the future.

Michela Planatscher (GEOS San Francisco); Italy

Hi my name is Michela and I am from Italy. GEOS class was fun because we had lots of students from different countries. I met a lot of new friends. Also the teachers were very professional. My favorite place in San Francisco was Union Square. Almost every day I walked there, sat on a bench, watched people, chatted with friends and did my GEOS homework. It was on my way home. I would describe GEOS as a fantastic place to study English.

Ice (GEOS Victoria); Thailand

I really love GEOS. I love the teachers, friends, staff, my class, homestay and activities. I love everything! I just started studying a month and half ago and will study until next January. I am thinking to go to University in Canada so I am studying very hard to improve my English skills as much as possible. One of my weak points is grammar; however, I have already improved a lot because the teacher always tells us the reason why it is wrong. My classmates always help me with my homework and answer my questions. That’s also helping to improve my skills a lot. I appreciate them.

I’ve made a lot of friends here. Especially I often hang out with Korean students. They took me to a Korean restaurant and I took them to a Thai restaurant. It was fun to share our culture and the best way to know each other! I had a very good time with them. I am having a great experience in GEOS now. Thank you so much!

Marco Bellomo (GEOS Ottawa); Italy

Hi guys, I'm Marco and I'm really happy with my experience at GEOS because the school has allowed me to make new true friends from crazy and wonderful countries.

I'm from Italy and you know how nice it is but Ottawa and Canada are too. For two months I have forgotten my country because Ottawa and Canada are very nice, with a lot of opportunity for fun and discovering a new culture through its museums and landscapes.

I think that I will never forget the day when we went rafting, it was amazing, thanks GEOS.

I'm sad because my little experience has ended and that I have to say good bye, for me this is not fun. I hope to see my new good friends from different countries again.

Ok, I'm ready, good bye and good luck to everyone.......see you in Italy.

Carmen Chan (GEOS Vancouver); Hong Kong

Before making a decision to go to GEOS, Vancouver, I had plenty of questions and hesitation for sure. Therefore, i kept emailing LOTS OF questions to the Coordinators - Charlene and Jiny:)

They were incredibly HELPFUL and showing their patience with answering every single questions of mine. Also, Tomoko is very kind as well. I miss her smiles!

Speaking of the 4-week TESOL class, it was not easy AT ALL, but, all of us have improved our English and skills of teaching hugely at the end of the course! More importantly, our teacher (Laura) is pretty encouraging and brilliant! I honestly never felt frustrated in these 4 weeks due to good atmosphere at GEOS and my lovely teacher and classmates! Frankly speaking, they are so important to me because my motivation always comes from THEM!

On the other hand, when i first came to GEOS, i was sort of surprised because GEOS is not very big. However, it is actually GOOD because every student can easily meet different people in different classes! Apparently, we always shared our own cultures. THAT WAS QUITE COOL AND FUN to know THE WORLD :) And, this is something i CANNOT JUST learn from the textbooks :') I am glad i have learnt something different and met a number of amazing friends. Guess what, they are going to visit me in Hong Kong and i am also going to visit them in their countries!

How COULD it be BETTER,eh?!?!:D

Besides GEOS, most people in Vancouver are super friendly. I was absolutely impressed by their kindness!

For instance, sometimes, when i looked confused or i was holding a map, i did not even ask anything, they just came up to me and asked if they could help me. Undoubtedly,Vancouver is an AWESOME city! I had a lot of JOYFUL TIMES!

In other words, I am pretty sure I would NEVER EVER regret my decision :) I miss GEOS Vancouver so much already..I so want to go back AGAIN! Hence, well,it is on my DO LIST now! I am going to save up for it.:P

By the way, I know a lot of you might have some hesitation whether you should go to GEOS,Vancouver or not.

One of the reasons is you DO NOT want to waste your precious time and money in a wrong place. Nevertheless, well,i would really say "GOOOO AHEAD!" I am sure you will have a lot of good times in Vancouver!

Guys, HAVE FUN!!

Lara Bianchini (GEOS New York); Italy

I really enjoied my time in Geos; everyone was friendly and well-disposed to help me.

Nicole (GEOS Victoria); Taiwan

I came here on a Holiday Group Study Tour. This is my first time studying abroad. I missed my home sometimes but my great experience at GEOS swept away all my negative feelings. This is because GEOS staff and teachers are friendly and the city of Victoria is very comfortable place to live and People are very kind. They made me comfortable. I did a lot of activities; Kayaking and Horse back riding was very fun. I had never done such an exciting activity. It was like I was really in Canada. It was a special moment for me.

I am studying Fine Arts at my University. I use a lot of English books thus English is essential to understand the History of Arts. It was only a month stay here but obviously my English is much better than before I came here. I am glad I can understand my major more deeply.

Anna Panova (GEOS New York); Russia

So many different people so many different lives.

Ana Maria (GEOS Victoria); Spain

I came here on Holiday Group Study Tour. I made a lot of friends here. One of the Arabic students invited me to her house and we had a nice time together dancing, chatting about our family and so on. It was very fun and good to know each other and the other culture. At school, I loved one of the activities called "Direction". We got a partner and found objects following the directions. Here in GEOS you can study English through a lot of activities. It didn't feel like I was studying so I was able to learn and improve my English skills with joy. I had a great summer vacation here.

Hi my name is Peter and I am from Vietnam. To be honest I really have a good time at GEOS because this school I can learn culture and know more about other things I didn't expect. My classmates very friendly and teacher very enthusiastic. I'm sure that my English and my education are very improved. GEOS give me opportunity to learn and discover.

I like San Francisco for many reasons, first the weather is very nice because I don't like snow or too hot. Another thing, people in San Francisco is very independent. You can do whatever you want and be whatever you do. San Francisco has various cuisine and me and my friends enjoy lots of shopping center, urban centers and really good public transportation. People here are so friendly. My word for GEOS is "so amazing." I can't get enough of time at GEOS. I will recommend it.

Adnan Abdellatif (GEOS LA-South Bay); Israel

I have been here for almost two months, I am staying with my aunt, and I am comfortable here. But here I have another life, and I noticed that my aunt had a different life while she was living in her native country (Palestine). Here in America there is more safety and comfort. And here everything is different, I mean the process of the life here is different, even the people here think in a different way.

I have been to many places here in America like, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Santa Monica, Las Vegas, in addition there are a lot of from things I have done here. For instance, going to the beach (I like the beach very much because in my country the beach is far away from the place where I live), meeting different people from different region, going to amusement parks. Regardless of all this I still love my country more than any place.

Nari Lee (GEOS New York); Korea

Zoltan Kovacs (GEOS Toronto); Hungary

My name is Zoltan Kovacs. I'm 20 years old and I came from Hungary. I'm a university student. This was my first time at GEOS Language Academy. I came here in order to learn English fluently and make some friends as well. I feel that my English has improved over the last few weeks. I feel lucky to have had such helpful and professional teachers at the school. The teachers always made sure that there was a positive atmosphere during the lessons. I have learnt a lot of words, expressions and I have new information about the world. I hope to continue my language studies in the future. All in all, the course was successful for me.

I thank GEOS for this memorable experience.

Jun Sato (GEOS Vancouver); Japan

When I had a question but it's not concerned with lesson, staff helped me a lot and it was helpful. My class is so good and my classmate and teachers are very fund. Sometimes the class is noisy but it's so funny. My Favorite activity is to go out and we can listen native English so I like it.

Best memory in GEOS is activity which we went to the ice cream shop and we could eat a lot of taste but the wasabi taste is terrible.
I don't recommend it. Actually I like to study English at GEOS! Now, I really enjoy studying English and Vancouver.
I made lots of friends so I'm very happy!

Thank you!!

Pablo Gonzalez (GEOS Montreal); Spain

My name is Pablo, I am from the south of Spain, Seville. I came to Montreal for ten intensive weeks. I was looking for the chance to improve my English skills and also improve my French level at the same time. I wanted to know Canadian culture and enjoy my summer after a hard year studying at high school. That is why I chose Montreal as my destiny. This city, the biggest bilingual one in the world, makes possible everything I really wanted to do. Not only choosing a wonderful city to enjoy the summer is decisive, but also it's important the fact of being worried about where to study and improve your languages skills. That is definitely why I chose GEOS Montreal.

Leaving home, the possibility of feeling alone abroad or missing friends and family can be your concern before coming here. They were also mine. I thought that it was going to be difficult at the beginning, that perhaps nobody of my age would be there, etc. But don't worry. All these worries last less than one day. The first day at GEOS is more than "le premier jour la", you start doing your placement test, orientation session, meeting GEOS staffs and all the students who came to Montreal to study and have fun, like you. Don't forget that is not just your first day at the school, you will meet people in the same situation as you. Believe me when I say that there is no better way to be welcome.

I have been travelling since I was 12 years old to learn English around the world, but this is the first time I can really feel that I'm at home while I'm abroad. I am so glad I was given an amazing family. My ten weeks in Montreal were the best ever, just because of them. My parents were always taking care of me and my brothers and sisters. I lived with all of them unforgettable experiences. I had relatives from Brazil, South Arabia, Colombia, Italy, etc. Each one changed something in me. They made me be a different and more tolerant person, they taught a lot, not only words from their own languages. I really think that being given the chance to stay during ten weeks here in Montreal, living with people from each corner of the world is absolutely worthy. During these weeks I have been able to do multiple activities, as sharing food from my country and trying tasteful dishes from all over the world, etc. From this summer I've learnt a lot from people that I won't forget ever.

For sure I could be talking about my experience in Montreal during hours and hours, but if you think that this can be just dreamt, please come here and try. After your experience here you will understand everything I've been trying to tell you. You'll see!

Oleksii Sknar (GEOS San Francisco); Ukraine

Hello my name is Oleksii and I am from Ukraine. I very like GEOS. I came to GEOS San Francisco and I thought it’s going to be more crazier, but then I see it’s not crazy, it’s normal and helpful people and San Francisco, it’s beautiful. I liked my teachers. GEOS it’s downtown and I don’t have neighborhood like downtown in my city, it’s really American for me. I think Golden Gate Bridge is very big and I don’t know why but I feel a lot of emotion when I see it. Of course I will miss my classmates and my teachers. I think I will miss life in GEOS.

David Rafique (GEOS Ottawa); Switzerland

I've been studying in GEOS for 2 months and it was really a good time. I have not only improved a lot of my English, but I also met a lot of friends from different countries. I didn't actually pay too much attention to my English improving, I spent more time and energy on all these very good friends and connections, here at GEOS.

I'll never forget this time here, I could make some very good experiences. Andy, very important, I also met my girlfriend here at GEOS :)

Thanks GEOS for everything, I'll recommend my people to visit this school!

TJ (GEOS Toronto); Korea

TJ (GEOS Toronto); Korea

Hello! My name is TJ and I'm from South Korea. I've been studying at GEOS for 3 months. When I came here, the atmosphere of the school was like a family and all GEOS staff helped me. Although this school is not big. I like this style school. If you want to learn basics of English well, just come to GEOS. They can care about you guys so much.

I also love this city, Toronto. There are so many festivals and many good places to visit. That's why I could see good festivals and enjoy my life. If you come here, you should go to Canada's Wonderland. It's awesome! One of roller coasters, Behemoth, is the best I've ever ridden.

Anyway, come to GEOS and Toronto. You can be happy!!
